In September, in the characteristic village of Crampiolo reached by a pleasant hike from the plateau of Alpe Devero, there is the “Scarghè feast“. This festival celebrates the transhumance at the end of the summer season and is one of the most authentic events of the rural life of the Antigorio Valley and the entire Ossola Valley. The most exciting moment, especially for children, is the arrival from the pastures of herds of cows ready to embark on the long descent to the valley floor, where they will spend the winter. On the occasion of the “Scarghèfeast”, in addition to the Holy Mass, the typical lunch, musical moments and the enchantment of the offerings, the breeders meet for the traditional marking of the Bettelmatt. This famous alpine cheese is a true gourmet delight, produced in the pristine pastures of the Antigorio and Formazza valleys.
